Get to Know Cynthia Shobe, Nelson Group Manager & Realtor

Where are you from?

I’m a proud Native Phoenician – born and raised right here in the Valley. Even my husband is a native, making us a rare find among Gen Xers! It’s been incredible to watch Phoenix grow and transform over the years, yet still hold onto the sense of community that makes it so special.

What inspired you to get into real estate?

Real estate has been part of my story for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my mom worked for a local company in the 80s – wearing many hats from HR to broker assistant – and I was surrounded by the energy and people of the business from a young age. I didn’t realize it at the time, but those years planted the seeds for my own love of real estate. By high school, I was surrounded by realtors I had grown up knowing and even babysat for quite a few of them.

After graduation, stepping into the industry felt like a natural next progression. I started working with an associate at my mom’s office, and soon after, transferred to a Central Phoenix branch where I worked alongside two incredible associates for over 30 years. That’s where I truly found my passion for helping clients navigate one of life’s biggest decisions. Those years taught me not only the ins and outs of real estate but also the importance of building genuine relationships – many of our clients became lifelong friends and even like family.

Life has a way of bringing the right people together at the right time. When my path crossed with Jen Nelson, and she returned to residential real estate, teaming up felt like the perfect next chapter. It’s been a full-circle journey – from those early days watching my mom’s dedication to now building a career I love, helping others find their place to call home, and doing it with a team that inspires me every day.

You’re a realtor on the team, and you manage all the transactions! What does exceptional service look like to you on a daily basis?

As the Director of Operation for our team, exceptional service to me means delivering professionalism and excellence every single day. It’s about clear, timely communication – keeping clients informed and empowered throughout the entire process. I always put our clients’ needs first, focusing on what’s truly best for them, whether it’s handling deadlines, negotiating details, or navigating bumps in the road, I’m there to keep things moving smoothly. At the heart of it all is the incredible milestone and lasting value of homeownership – I want every client to feel proud, confident, and supported in what’s likely one of the biggest investments of their lives.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned in this business that’s stuck with you?
For me, I’ve learned that building strong relationships should be at the heart of everything you do. More than just transactions, it’s about connecting with people, understanding their stories, and earning their trust. When relationships come first, you’re not only helping clients reach their goals but also creating bonds that last well beyond the closing – and I’m honored to be part of such an important chapter of their lives.

When you’re not working, where are your favorite spots to be in the valley?

The Valley has so many amazing places to explore, but for me, my favorite place will always be wherever my family is. My husband and kids are my center, my peace, and my greatest joy. Whether we’re out enjoying all the beauty Arizona has to offer or simply spending time together at home, they’re the ones who make every moment special and every place feel like home. We recently enjoyed our trip exploring Sedona again and we also love catching a Diamondbacks Game!
